: Upon hearing that his ex-girlfriend Desiree (Leslie Bibb) also committed suicide shortly after him, Zia embarks on a surreal road trip across the afterlife to find her.

"Wristcutter's Lovestory" is set in a dystopian near-future, where the United States has been transformed into a totalitarian regime known as the "Directorate." The story follows Zia (played by Shannyn Sossamon), a young woman who works at a suicidal prevention hotline, and her encounters with a mysterious and charismatic stranger named Lovell (played by Luke Wilson). After a series of bizarre events, Zia and Lovell embark on a journey to Oregon's "Wristcutter's Ledge," a scenic cliffside where people go to end their lives.
