welcome aboard

Ships of Hagoth is a digital-first literary magazine featuring creative nonfiction and theoretical essays by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Where other LDS-centric publications often look inward at the LDS tradition, we seek literary works that look outward through the curious, charitable lens of faith.

: To change the outcomes in your life, you must first change the core story and assumptions you believe about yourself. Dominant Thoughts Rule

The idea that the world is a mirror is not a new one, but Nada Amari's take on it offers a fresh perspective. She argues that everything in our external world, from the people we meet to the events that unfold, is a reflection of our inner thoughts, emotions, and beliefs. This means that if we're experiencing chaos and negativity in our lives, it's likely a reflection of the chaos and negativity within ourselves.

The book posits that life is a "game" or an "awakened dream" where every external circumstance—including people, events, and objects—is a projection of your thoughts, beliefs, and emotions.

"The World is a Mirror" is a novel written by Nada Amari. It explores themes of identity, culture, and the human condition, reflecting on how individuals perceive themselves and their place in the world. The book has garnered attention for its thought-provoking narrative and its exploration of complex social issues through a compelling storyline.

IONS

We are hoping—for “one must needs hope”—for creative nonfiction, theoretical essays, and craft essays that seek radical new ways to explore and express theological ideas; that are, like Hagoth, “exceedingly curious.”

We favor creative nonfiction that can trace its lineage back to Michel de Montaigne. Whether narrative, analytical, or devotional, these essays lean ruminative, conversational, meandering, impressionistic, and are reluctant to wax didactic.

As for theoretical essays: we welcome work that playfully and charitably explores the wide world of arts & letters—especially works created from differing religious, non-religious, and even irreligious perspectives—through the peculiar lens of a Latter-day Saint.

We read and publish submissions as quickly as possible, and accept simultaneous submissions.
