Previous versions relied on a simple “charisma” stat for begging. Version 0.8.3 introduces a dynamic Sympathy Meter that changes based on the player’s appearance, actions in the previous in-game days, and even the weather. For example, standing in the rain with a torn coat for three hours now triggers unique NPC interactions. Players have reported that abusing the system (e.g., pretending to be sick too often) permanently lowers the Sympathy cap in each district.
