Installing GTA San Andreas 1.09 is not as simple as downloading an app from the Google Play Store. It requires what is known as “sideloading.” The user must first enable “Install from Unknown Sources” in their Android security settings. Then, they install the APK file. Critically, before launching the game for the first time, the user must manually place the OBB file into the correct directory: Android/obb/com.rockstargames.gtasa/ . If the OBB is not in precisely that location or is named incorrectly (typically main.9.com.rockstargames.gtasa.obb ), the game will fail to recognize it.
This file holds the heavy assets. For a game as vast as San Andreas, the OBB is massive (often exceeding 2.5 GB). It contains the game world’s geometry (Los Santos, San Fierro, Las Venturas, and the countryside), character models, mission scripts, audio files (radio stations, dialogue, sound effects), and texture data.
