Never open the Creation Kit through your mod manager's "Launch" button without the -mster parameter. Instead, create a shortcut with: "C:\Path\To\CreationKit.exe" -editor -mster creation kit skyrim se 1.5.97

In the Creation Kit, go to View > Render Window Properties . Under "Lighting," disable "Enable Shadows." Under "Display," disable "Water." You can re-enable water after finalizing your worldspace edits. : This allows the NPC to speak continuously

: Modify weapons, armor, spells, and perks, then bundle them into .esp or .esl files. Under "Lighting," disable "Enable Shadows

The bAllowMultipleMasterLoads=1 line above usually fixes this. If not, use Wrye Bash to temporarily "ghost" unnecessary masters, or use SSE Creation Kit Fixes (a community DLL plugin for CK 1.5.97).
