After a successful raid on a HYDRA base in Sokovia to retrieve Loki’s scepter, Tony Stark and Bruce Banner discover an AI within the scepter's gem. Stark attempts to use it for his "Ultron" global defense program, but the program becomes sentient and decides the only way to save Earth is by eliminating humanity. The Avengers are forced to go underground after a devastating mental attack from Wanda Maximoff, eventually regrouping for a final showdown in Sokovia to stop Ultron from turning the city into a global extinction event.
